Mom: Waiter Friend is going to take us on a ghost hunt tomorrow night when everyone else is asleep!
Me: What?
Mom: It's going to be so much fun!
Me: Mom, that's totally creepy.
Mom: Oh, it'll be fun. I just hope no one finds out, because Waiter Friend could lose his job. No one is supposed to be down in the tunnels underneath the hotel.
Me: The TUNNELS? Think about this for a second. The place is a jillion years old. They originally wanted to film THE SHINING there. And you know how creepy it can be at night!
Mom: Sure, I guess!
Me: No, not during the day when dad's golfing and you're at a culinary demonstration learning how to make freakin' creme brulee. I'm talking LATE AT NIGHT. It's creepy. I get creeped out just being alone in my room there sometimes.
Mom: Waiter Friend has a list of all the ghosts that are supposed to still be in the hotel. He calls them The Guests Who Haven't Checked Out Yet.
Me: Don't look at any portraits for too long! They always come to life!
Mom: Oh, you're silly.
Me: I swear, if you disappear, I am NOT coming after you with a psychic and night vision goggles.
Mom: I can't wait! We're going to see a ghost!
Me: Is your will updated?

If your parents get abducted by ghosts (is abducted the right word? what do ghosts do to people besides scare them?), I will totally represent you in your suit against the hotel. Just let me know.
Ohhhh... I love what your folks are doing! Ever since my Scooby Doo days I've wanted to go on a ghost hunt! I'm skeptacle, especially about ghosts, so let us know if they hear any bumps in the night, won't you?
Holy cow, your mom has gone nutters! Seriously, that is just C-R-A-Z-Y!!
They survived, but get this: My mom was like, "They just had a stack of really old plates there so we took one for you!" I was like, "I DO NOT want the haunted plate." You know there's an angry dead eating ghost attached.
OH hell no.
I think I just shit my pants by just reading all that. I get scared just watching that on TV.
I do like that British lady though. She always gets so scared.
Is anyone there? Please do something to show us you are here. Throw a rock or tap on a pipe. We don't want to harm you.
I hope you know what show I'm talking about because if you don't, you are going to think I'm a big fat weirdo.
I forget the name of that show. Dammnit.

I love ghost hunting! Even if you don't see anything, it's fun to get the adrenaline rushing. I stayed the night at Mansfield Reformatory in Mansfield, Oh to go ghost hunting a few years back (they filmed Shawshank Redemption there). There were a few freaky things that happened, but mostly we just scared ourselves. :)
Agh. That terrified me just reading about it. Yeah, I would pass on the haunted plate, too.
